Aperçu de la race
Les Chow Chows font partie des races les plus anciennes. La plupart des experts pensent qu’elles remontent à 206 av. à la dynastie Han de Chine, mais on pense qu’ils remontent encore plus loin. Ils pourraient également être les ancêtres de races Spitz comme le Poméranien et le Samoyède.
Ils étaient principalement utilisés pour la garde et la chasse, mais aussi comme compagnons des nobles. Ils ont reçu une grande reconnaissance de la reine Victoria à la fin des années 1800, et elle en est tombée amoureuse et en a ajouté un à son entourage de chiens.
