Le Lakeland Terrier est de bonne humeur, avec un esprit animé et joyeux qui s'intègre bien dans n'importe quel foyer. C’est une race très sociale qui a besoin d’être avec son peuple aussi souvent que possible et de préférence impliqué aussi ! Ils aiment le contact humain et ont un sens de l’humour espiègle dont vous tomberez amoureux. Les Lakelands ont un charme contagieux qui pimente les choses à la maison ou lors de voyages à l'extérieur. En parlant de plein air, ce sont de fervents coureurs et n’ont pas non plus peur de l’eau ! le Lakeland Terrier est un chien polyvalent qui se contente où que vous soyez.
Ils peuvent avoir un côté un peu têtu et présenter une « surdité sélective » lorsqu'ils s'intéressent vraiment à quelque chose, ce qui arrive souvent car le Lakeland Terrier Le Terrier est une race curieuse qui s'ennuie facilement sans exercice de qualité et sans beaucoup de stimulation mentale. Les Lakelands se font rapidement des amis et sont accueillants envers les invités lorsqu'ils sont bien socialisés, mais ils peuvent être excitables, vous devrez donc leur apprendre à ne pas sauter sur les gens.

Ça dépend. Le Lakeland Terrier a une forte proie, il est donc enclin à chasser les chats et les petites proies comme les lapins. Ils peuvent cependant être socialisés tôt pour tolérer les chats. En ce qui concerne les autres chiens, les Lakelands peuvent être fougueux mais ne sont pas trop dominants. Encore une fois, il faut une socialisation dès le début de l'enfance pour leur apprendre les règles d'engagement en tant que chien et interagir de manière appropriée avec des colocataires à fourrure.

Les chiots Lakeland Terrier ont besoin d'un régime riche en protéines avec 25 % à 32 % de protéines, tandis qu'un adulte a besoin entre 18 % et 22 % de protéines. Les deux formules sont équilibrées avec des glucides, des graisses saines, des vitamines et tous ces oligo-éléments dont votre chien a besoin pour grandir et s'épanouir. Trois à quatre petits repas par jour sont une bonne règle de base pour les chiots, tandis que les adultes se débrouillent bien avec deux ou trois repas par jour.

Les Lakeland Terriers sont considérés comme des animaux qui ne muent pas. race, vous devrez donc brosser leur pelage régulièrement pendant environ 15 à 30 minutes par semaine. Les femelles mesurent en moyenne 13 à 14 pouces et pèsent environ 15 livres, tandis que les mâles sont un peu plus grands, mesurant 14 à 15 pouces et 17 livres en moyenne. Il n'y a pas de différences de personnalité majeures entre les deux sexes et chaque individu a sa propre personnalité.

1. La race a plusieurs noms
Élevé dans le Lake District, ou « Lakeland », en Angleterre, le Lakeland Terrier a porté de nombreux surnoms. Parmi eux figurent le Patterson Terrier, le Fell Terrier et le Cumberland. Ils sont apparentés à un certain nombre de terriers anglais du nord de l'Angleterre élevés pour la chasse au petit gibier.
2. Les Lakeland Terriers sont considérés comme une race autochtone vulnérable
Seulement 220 chiots de cette race ont été enregistrés auprès du Kennel Club en 2016, ce qui les rend presque en voie de disparition en tant qu'espèce. Malheureusement, très peu d’efforts de sélection concertés leur sont consacrés. Espérons que davantage d'attention puisse être attirée sur le Lakeland Terrier afin que la race prospère à l'avenir.
3. Élevé en tant que chasseur de petit gibier supérieur
Le Lakeland est une race de terrier relativement récente, reconnue comme sa propre race en 1934. Il se distinguait des autres terriers comme un chasseur de renard plus agile doté d'une fantastique capacité de fouissage, d'une éthique de travail, et un affectueux qui remue la queuela nature à la maison. Malheureusement, leur nombre n'a jamais été très élevé en Angleterre ou ailleurs.

Pensées finales
Les Lakeland Terriers creuseront leur chemin dans votre cœur avec leur personnalité affable et chaleureuse et leur sens de l'humour méchant. Ils peuvent demander un peu de travail pour faire de l'exercice et socialiser correctement, mais conviennent bien à de nombreux ménages prêts à s'occuper d'un gros bébé à fourrure. Il en existe très peu, mais j'espère que cela changera dans un avenir proche.
