Le chien Ba Shar est un croisement entre le Basset Hound aux oreilles tombantes et le Shar Pei au visage ridé. Avec leur apparence robuste, leur grosse tête et leur peau brune et ridée, il n'est pas étonnant que les chiens Ba Shar soient également appelés « chiens de morse » !
Aperçu de la race
Les chiens de morse peuvent être joueurs, têtu et alerte. Ils sont également incroyablement fidèles à leurs propriétaires et peuvent être d’adorables animaux de compagnie. Ils ont tendance à toujours savoir ce qui se passe dans leur environnement, ils font donc aussi d'excellents chiens de garde.
Les chiots Ba Shar
Les Ba Shars sont relativement en bonne santé, mais On ne sait pas grand-chose des conséquences sur la santé de cette race mixte. Ils ont besoin d’une quantité modérée d’exercice, mais ils sont également très heureux de simplement traîner sur votre canapé. Les Ba Shars peuvent se méfier des étrangers s'ils ne sont pas bien entraînés dès le départ, mais si vous obtenez une bonne formation pour votre chiot, ils courront pour voir ce qui se passe lorsque des invités se présenteront chez vous.

Ils sont super intelligents et surveillent toujours ce qui se passe. En raison de leur appréhension envers les étrangers, il est préférable qu’un propriétaire de chien expérimenté s’en occupe et qu’ils bénéficient de beaucoup de socialisation lorsqu’ils sont jeunes. Les Shar Pei sont d'excellents chiens de garde qui peuvent être bons pour les familles, mais ne sont peut-être pas les meilleurs pour les familles avec de jeunes enfants.
À l'inverse, les Basset Hounds ont une personnalité globalement plus ludique et peuvent être parfaits pour les familles avec des enfants. Ils sont sociaux et aiment passer du temps avec toutes sortes de personnes, même s’ils restent vigilants tout le temps. L'intelligence d'un Basset Hound peut lui causer des ennuis s'il est laissé seul trop longtemps.
Comme vous pouvez le constater, ces races diffèrent grandement, il est donc difficile de savoir ce que vous allez trouver chez un chiot Ba Shar. Nul doute que votre morse sera intelligent mais aussi un peu têtu. Ces chiots ont besoin d'un dressage constant et de beaucoup de socialisation pour les familiariser avec les étrangers.

Ils peuvent l’être, s’ils sont bien entraînés. Cependant, dans leur état naturel, ils ne se soucient pas de la nature turbulente des enfants et n’aiment pas être taquinés. Ils réussissent mieux dans les familles avec des enfants plus âgés qui comprennent le côté indépendant et obstiné du chien.

Les Ba Shars viennent des Basset Hounds, qui adorent traquer et chasser les petits animaux. Gardez cela à l’esprit lorsque vous introduisez un chien morse adulte dans un foyer d’animaux de compagnie. Cependant, lorsqu'ils sont élevés avec les autres animaux de compagnie en tant que chiot, il ne devrait pas y avoir de conflits entre les Ba Shars et les autres animaux de compagnie.
Choses à savoir lorsque vous possédez un Ba Shars Partager
Nourriture & Exigences alimentaires 🦴
Tout chien mérite une nourriture pour chien de haute qualité, et le Ba Shar ne fait pas exception. Parlez d’abord avec votre vétérinaire, mais en général, votre chien morse aura besoin d’une nourriture riche en fibres et en protéines. Optez pour des aliments contenant au moins 24 % de protéines et 5 % de fibres.
Exercice 🐕
S'il est laissé à lui-même, un chien morse paresseux pourrait devenir aussi gros qu'un morse (en quelque sorte )! Pour empêcher votre Ba Shar de prendre du poids, vous devrez faire de l’exercice. Les exigences d’exercice quotidien ne sont cependant pas trop exigeantes et ils adoreront passer plus de temps avec vous. Essayez de promener votre chien morse pendant 30 minutes à une heure par jour. Cela peut être divisé en deux promenades si cela fonctionne mieux. Gardez à l'esprit que les Ba Shars aiment se déplacer de manière indépendante, une cour clôturée est donc essentielle.
Formation 🎾
Être cohérent est la clé d'une formation réussie de Ba Shar. Ils réussissent parfois bien dans les cours collectifs, mais nous avons des conseils pour vous si vous envisagez de le faire vous-même. Restez positif avec un renforcement positif avec des friandises, etils s'épanouiront. Si vous l'entraînez vous-même, assurez-vous de maintenir une posture confiante ; sinon, le Shar Pei en lui sentira un point faible et essaiera de profiter de vous.
Si les cours en groupe et/ou l'auto-entraînement ne se passent pas bien, nous vous recommandons de passer à un entraînement individuel avec un pro.
Toilettage ✂️
Votre chien morse fera bien de faire brosser son épais double pelage deux fois par semaine. Cela gardera son pelage en parfait état et réduira la perte excessive de poils. Aussi amusant et excitant que soit l'heure du bain, ne baignez pas votre Ba Shar trop souvent, sinon sa peau deviendra trop sèche. Coupez leurs ongles environ toutes les 3 semaines et brossez-leur les dents régulièrement.

Santé et conditions 🏥
Étant donné que les races Shar-Pei et Basset Hound sont toutes deux robustes, cette race a tendance à l'être aussi, bien que nous ne sachions pas grand-chose sur leur historique de santé total en raison de sa brièveté. Tant que vous promenez régulièrement votre chien Ba Shar et que vous l'emmenez chez le vétérinaire chaque année, il devrait rester en bonne forme. Cependant, voici une liste de quelques affections graves et mineures à surveiller chez les Ba Shars :
Mâle vs femelle
La seule grande différence entre les Ba Shars mâles et femelles réside dans leur taille. Les mâles ont tendance à être légèrement plus grands que les femelles en taille et en stature, mais pas de beaucoup. Les chiens morses mâles peuvent également être plus têtus que les femelles.femelles. Lorsque vous essayez de prendre cette décision, assurez-vous de parler à l'éleveur de chiens, car il aura le plus d'expérience en matière de taille et de comportement des deux sexes.
3 faits peu connus sur le Ba Shar
1. Ils ont été élevés pour la première fois aux États-Unis dans les années 1990.
Le Basset Hound existe depuis des siècles, mais le Shar Pei n'a été introduit aux États-Unis qu'en 1973. On estime que les origines exactes de l'hybride se sont produites après que l'AKC a reconnu le Shar Pei en 1991.
2. Ce chien porte trois noms différents.
Le Ba Shar peut également être appelé chien morse ou « atout pointu ». Certains l'appellent même le Mini Walrus. C'est pourquoi il peut être difficile de trouver des informations sur cette race !
3. Ils peuvent être athlétiques.
Même si les Basset Hounds et les Shar Peis ne sont pas connus pour leurs capacités actives, les chiens morses adorent bouger, mais seulement si vous les convainquez que c'était leur idée au départ !
Réflexions finales
Là où le Ba Shar manque de popularité, il compense par son caractère unique. Nous ne savons pas grand-chose sur les chiens morses, mais ils sont vraiment mignons. Pour la personne qui veut connaître le tempérament, la personnalité et les résultats de santé exacts d'un chien qu'elle acquiert, le Ba Shar n'est peut-être pas la meilleure option. Néanmoins, pour les personnes qui veulent une race de petite taille, à poil court et de taille moyenneAvec ses besoins d'exercice et sa personnalité loyale mais coriace, le Ba Shar, peu connu, est un chien idéal.
