La coloration rouge du Red Shiba Inu vient de leur production du gène de mélanine. S'il en produit trop peu, le chien a une couleur crème ; s'il en produit trop, le chien est noir. Les premières traces de Shiba Inu rouge dans l'histoire
Le Shiba Inu retrace son histoire jusqu'au peuple Ainu en 7000 avant JC. Les Aïnous, le peuple indigène du Japon, ont été les premiers à s'installer sur l'île d'Hokkaido, au nord du Japon. Les Aïnous possédaient une race connue sous le nom de chien Aïnu, qu'ils utilisaient pour la chasse, et ils sont le premier ancêtre connu du Shiba Inu moderne.
On ne sait pas quand le Shiba Inu a officiellement vu le jour, mais des chiens qui lui ressemblent peuvent être vus dans l'art rupestre dès 2300il y a des années. Cependant, il existe des traces de Shiba Inus utilisés comme chiens de chasse par les samouraïs pendant le shogunat de Kamakura, qui a duré de 1190 à 1603.

Au début du 19e siècle, la perception du public du Shiba Inu avait beaucoup changé au Japon. Le Shiba est passé de chien de chasse à compagnon et finalement à icône nationale. Le Shiba Inu est l'une des six races originaires du Japon. Tous les six ont été reconnus par le gouvernement japonais comme trésors nationaux dans les années 1930, et aujourd'hui, le Shiba Inu est le chien national officiel du Japon.
Dans les années 1990, de nombreux Shibas ont été importés aux États-Unis, où ils a gagné en popularité à une vitesse fulgurante. Aujourd’hui, ils constituent la race de chiens japonais la plus populaire en Amérique du Nord et vivent principalement comme compagnons. Le Shiba Inu a parcouru un long chemin depuis ses origines de chasseur, mais la même personnalité courageuse et loyale demeure, même si elle vient d'un chien allongé sur le canapé.
Reconnaissance formelle du Shiba Inu rouge
Le Shiba Inu a été reconnu par tous les principaux clubs canins et registres canins du monde entier. La première à reconnaître la race fut la Fédération Cynologique Internationale en 1964 et plus tard en 1992 par le United Kennel Club et l'American Kennel Club. Le New Zealand Kennel Club et le Canadian Kennel Club ont égalementa reconnu la race.
La reconnaissance de la race par l'AKC en 1992 témoigne de la rapidité avec laquelle elle a gagné en popularité ; ils ont commencé à être régulièrement importés moins de deux ans avant leur reconnaissance officielle.

1. Les juges des expositions canines jugent Red Shiba Inus sur la couleur de leur pelage.
Un pelage rouge foncé est considéré comme le signe d'une lignée forte. Les Shiba Inus rouges avec un pelage de couleur claire sont considérés comme ayant une « génétique faible ».
2. Un Shiba Inu est la star de l'un des mèmes Internet les plus connus de tous les temps
Le 13 février 2010, une image d'un Shiba Inu a été téléchargée sur un blog. Le propriétaire du chien était une enseignante de maternelle japonaise nommée Atsuko Sato et le chien s'appelait Kabosu. Une image, en particulier, montrait Kabosu allongée sur un canapé, la tête tournée en diagonale par rapport à la caméra et les sourcils relevés. Une légende dans la police Comic Sans accompagnait généralement l'image.
3. Un Shiba Inu est le visage d'une crypto-monnaie
En 2013, les ingénieurs logiciels Billy Markus et Jackson Palmer ont lancé DogeCoin comme une satire de l'engouement autour des crypto-monnaies. DogeCoin avait le Kabosu mentionné précédemment sur son logo et a été conçu pour se moquer des cryptos comme Bitcoin. La pièce n’a aucune valeur financière et chaque pièce vaut moins d’un centime. Cependant, la pièce a atteint unFrançais : La valeur marchande de ce chien est de plus de 50 milliards de dollars américains, simplement en raison de sa grande quantité en circulation.

Le Shiba Inu rouge est-il un bon animal de compagnie ?
Le Shiba Inu rouge est un excellent animal de compagnie pour une variété de familles. Sa taille moyenne signifie que la vie en appartement ne sera pas un problème, et sa nature amicale mais indépendante en fait un excellent choix pour les familles et les propriétaires célibataires. De plus, le Shiba peut servir de bon chien de garde en raison de sa vivacité naturelle due à son origine de chien de chasse.
Le Shiba Inu rouge est également un chien qui demande peu d'entretien. Il perd modérément ses poils et n'a besoin que d'une heure d'exercice par jour. Tant qu'il est socialisé correctement dès son plus jeune âge, il ne devrait pas avoir de problèmes d'agressivité.
Tous ces traits font du Shiba Inu rouge le chien parfait, mais il y a un problème : les Shibas ne sont pas faciles à dresser. Comme mentionné précédemment, les Shiba Inu sont des chiens indépendants et, de ce fait, ils n’aiment pas beaucoup l’entraînement. Cependant, cet obstacle peut être surmonté avec de la détermination, de la cohérence et une méthode d’entraînement basée sur la récompense.

Cependant, ce sont des chiens indépendants et ne sont pas le meilleur choix pour un premier animal de compagnieles propriétaires. Ils ont besoin d'être socialisés et dressés dès leur plus jeune âge, mais si vous y parvenez, vous aurez en retour un animal de compagnie fidèle et aimant.
