Greenwood Plantation, St. Francisville, Louisiane : Partie II
Plus tôt cette semaine, nous avons visité les pièces du rez-de-chaussée de Greenwood Plantation, une maison de plantation située à St. Francisville en Louisiane. Greenwood a connu un incendie dévastateur en 1960, mais la maison a été entièrement reconstruite et a été le lieu de tournage de nombreux films et émissions de télévision, notamment la mini-série North and South.
Aujourd'hui, nous montons à l'étage et visitons les chambres de cette maison de style néo-grec. L'escalier principal, ici dans le hall seigneurial de 21 mètres de long, vous mène au deuxième étage.
En arrivant en haut de l'escalier, un coup d'œil à gauche montre que l'escalier continue jusqu'au grenier. Si je me souviens bien, le propriétaire, Richard Barnes, nous a dit que lui et sa femme vivaient dans une zone finie du grenier pendant le processus de reconstruction. Le grenier doit être immense, aussi grand que la maison... j'aurais aimé voir cet espace aussi.
L'une des chambres avec un joli baldaquin de lit noué à la main et crocheté. Vous verrez beaucoup de papier peint dans les chambres lors de cette visite.

Un autre superbe lit à baldaquin dans cette chambre. Remarquez la chaise d'angle, ces chaises ont été conçues pour qu'un homme puisse s'asseoir sans avoir à retirer son sabre et bien sûr, les femmes pourraient également mieux ajuster leurs énormes jupes à cerceaux pour s'asseoir.

Une superbe armoire se trouvait dans un coin. Je me suis interrogé sur les colonnes et plus tard, le propriétaire nous a dit qu'elles avaient été utilisées dans l'un des films ou émissions de télévision tournés là-bas ; J'ai oublié lequel maintenant. Les reconnaissez-vous dans l'un de ces films : Drango, Sister, Sister, Bonnie and Clyde, G.I.Joe : Retaliation ou dans la mini-série North and South ? Je pense qu'il a dit qu'ils étaient de chaque côté du président qui était représenté dans l'un des films/émissions.
Encore un joli lit... Toutes les chambres étaient immenses ! De nombreuses tentures de la maison ont été créées et installées pour les films tournés ici. J'ai demandé au propriétaire, Richard Barnes, s'ils étaient autorisés à participer aux choix faits en matière de papier peint et de tentures, etc... et il a répondu : Oui, ils ont toujours approuvé tout.
Une autre chambre meublée avec de belles antiquités... Je ne pouvais pas toujours prendre des photos de la pièce entière car il y avait tellement d'autres personnes qui participaient aux différentes visites qui se déroulaient dans la maison, toutes en même temps.
