Même s’ils n’ont pas envie de « chasser » votre chat, cette proie pourrait quand même les obliger à traiter votre ami tigré comme quelque chose à chasser.

Si c'est la première fois que votre Shiba Inu voit un chat de sa vie, votre travail est fait pour vous. Les Shibas qui ont déjà interagi avec des chats s'adaptent plus facilement à leur présence dans une maison.

Par rapport aux adultes, les jeunes sont souvent plus ouverts à l'exploration de nouvelles choses et de nouvelles situations. Et c’est pourquoi il leur est plus facile de se comprendre et même de passer du temps ensemble. Nous n’essayons pas de laisser entendre qu’un Shiba adulte ne sera jamais ouvert à l’idée de partager une maison avec un chat adulte. C’est tout à fait possible, surtout si vous les inscrivez à des cours de socialisation. Ils pourraient retomber dans de vieilles habitudes, mais si vous êtes cohérent et patient, vous finirez par enrayer le problème.
Pour que la formation soit efficace, vous devrez intégrer le renforcement positif. Utilisez des friandises et des mots d’encouragement. Et gardez vos commandes simples, si vousje ne veux pas que quelque chose se perde dans la traduction. Les commandes telles que « assis » et « non » sont couramment utilisées dans la formation car elles sont faciles à comprendre.
4. Quelle est la personnalité de votre Shiba Inu ?
En général, la plupart de ces chiens sont intelligents mais têtus. Ils aiment également jouer un rôle dominant dans n’importe quel contexte social et s’affirment davantage. Ce sont ces traits qui en font des intimidateurs chaque fois que de petits animaux sont présents. C’est pourquoi vous devez socialiser votre Shiba dès son plus jeune âge. Apprendre de nouveaux tours à un vieux Shiba sera certainement une tâche ardue.
La personnalité du chat est également un facteur dans cette équation. S'ils sont plus sociables, amicaux et décontractés, votre travail sera plus facile.

Donnez-leur tous deux des objets personnalisés à sentir
Les chiens ont un odorat très puissant. En sentant un article personnalisé, ils seront en mesure de recueillir plus d’informations que lorsqu’ils verront ledit article ou le goûteront. Les chats ont également un odorat supérieur au nôtre. L’utilisation de ces articles aidera vos animaux à s’habituer aux odeurs des autres, faisant ainsi l’introductionplus facile.

Vous pouvez les mettre tous les deux dans des cages de transport en filet séparées, avant de les introduire.
Donnez à votre chat le jouet préféré de votre Shiba
On dit que partager, c'est prendre soin. Il faut donc faire comprendre à votre Shiba que son jouet est en sécurité, à condition qu'il le laisse jouer avec pendant un petit moment. Le jouet peut être n'importe quoi, depuis un animal en peluche, une balle ou simplement une corde. Si vous remarquez qu'ils commencent lentement à montrer des signes d'agressivité, étouffez-le dans l'œuf avant qu'il ne devienne incontrôlable.

Laissez sortir le chien pour voir comment il réagit face au chat. S’ils ne chargent pas ou n’aboient pas tout de suite, c’est bon signe. N’oubliez pas de mettre une laisse, car les choses peuvent mal tourner en une fraction de seconde. Et soyez très observateur car leur langage corporel est un outil de communication important lors de ces rencontres d'introduction.
Ouvrez la cage du chat
Laissez le chat rester dans la cage pendant une période prolongée le temps n'est pas conseillé, car ils commenceront à se sentirstressé.
Alors laissez-les sortir et notez la réaction de votre Shiba. S’ils semblent impatients de rencontrer leur nouveau colocataire, c’est un autre bon signe. Mais il faut quand même gérer l’excitation, car une surexcitation pourrait entraîner d’autres problèmes. Des pleurnicheries excessives, un remuement de la queue, le non-respect des commandes courantes et une capacité d'attention réduite sont autant de signes d'un Shiba surexcité.
