Visitez l'historique Whitlock Inn
Récemment, un ami et moi avons fait une visite de maisons historiques de Noël à Marietta, en Géorgie. La visite comprenait la belle Whitlock Inn. Cette maison victorienne a été construite en 1900. Un bref historique trouvé en ligne indique : « Il y a cent dix ans, la M.G. Whitlock House, le célèbre complexe hôtelier de 150 chambres de Marietta, a brûlé. Avant la guerre civile, c'était un lieu de prédilection pour les touristes qui prenaient le train des villes côtières chaudes, comme Savannah, aux contreforts plus frais de Géorgie. Le complexe occupait presque tout le pâté de maisons de Whitlock Avenue où se trouve aujourd'hui le Whitlock Inn, une résidence privée et la Trust Company Bank. »
« En 1900, une partie du terrain a été achetée par Herbert C. Dobbs et sa femme Annie. C'est ici qu'ils ont construit ce manoir victorien, maison pour leur famille de huit personnes. En 1910, la maison a été vendue à M. et Mme Kemper Smith, qui, après plusieurs années de résidence, ont vendu la maison à la famille Dosser. Les très appréciés Dossers étaient actifs dans la Première Église méthodiste, qui se trouve maintenant juste en face de Whitlock Avenue. On se souvient de Mme Dosser comme d'une professeure de piano préférée et de la donatrice de fêtes de Noël richement décorées. » (Bref historique ici.)
Aujourd'hui, la maison est un Bed & Breakfast appartenant à Nancy et Sandy Edwards qui l'ouvrent gracieusement au public pour des visites. Venez jeter un œil à l'intérieur de cette belle vieille maison. L'escalier est si joliment drapé de guirlandes.

Chambres à l'étage :
Les chambres sont décorées avec beaucoup de goût. Celui-ci est parfait pour l'automne.

C'était mon préféré chambre...
Tu n'aimes pas ces lits !
On se sent si à l'aise, comme dans une vraie maison devrait se sentir.

En redescendant... remarquez les petits flashs sur le mur. Ceux-ci n’étaient pas visibles lorsque j’ai pris la photo. Est-ce un fantôme ou une lumière entrant à travers les fenêtres en verre au plomb ? Je préfère penser que c'est un fantôme. Chaque maison historique a besoin d'au moins un fantôme résident.
