Si vous recherchez un chien fort, familial et fidèle, vous avez probablement jeté votre dévolu sur ces deux belles races : le bouvier des Pyrénées et le bouvier bernois. Ces deux races sont intelligentes, courageuses et prêtes à faire un effort supplémentaire pour leurs propriétaires. Elles ont également des caractéristiques physiques similaires et ont à peu près la même taille et la même hauteur. Cela dit, le bouvier bernois est plus joueur et désireux de faire plaisir. En revanche, le bouvier des Pyrénées n’est pas prompt à suivre les ordres.

Les Bernois ont une charmante personnalité. Ils s'attachent rapidement à chaque membre de la famille mais ne créent un lien fort qu'avec une seule personne. Si cette personne est vous, cela vous rend spécial ! De nature attentionnée, ils ne constitueront une menace pour aucun de vos proches, y compris les petits enfants, malgré leur taille imposante. Jouer à des jeux, sortir courir ou simplement se détendre devant la télévision : ces chiens sont prêts à tout ce que vous voulez faire mais préfèrent surtout l'intérieur.
Autre bonne nouvelle : les bouviers bernois sont très amicaux. envers les autres chiens et accepter les étrangers. Ainsi, si vous avez déjà un chien de compagnie à la maison, il ne devrait pas être difficile de le présenter à votre Berner en tant que nouveau membre de la famille. Bien entendu, vous devrez être présent et surveiller les chiens. Nous sommes également heureux de souligner que les Bernois ont un niveau d’adaptabilité supérieur à la moyenne. Entraînement
Les bouviers bernois sont sociaux et obéissants, ce qui les rend parfaits pour l'entraînement. Et plus tôt vous commencerez, meilleurs seront les résultats. Les Bernois apprennent vite, prêts à travailler pour plaire à leurs propriétaires. Pour un chiot, 1 à 2 heures d’entraînement par jour suffiront. C’est important : comme ces chiens ont une personnalité très tendre, un dressage rigoureux n’est PAS ce que vous devriez opter. Il est très facile de blesser leurs sentiments.
Alors, au lieu d'être trop strict, essayez de transformer le processus en jeu. Les Bernois sont de grands fans du plein air. Faites de votre mieux pour passer au moins quelques heures par jour avec le bouvier bernois. Bien qu'il puisse facilement gérer 5 à 8 heures de temps seul une fois complètement entraîné, si vous le négligez trop longtemps, cela le rendra solitaire, entraînant des conséquences et des comportements indésirables. Santé et amp; Soins
Les Bernois sont des chiens forts et robustes, mais malheureusement, ils ne vivent que 7 à 10 ans. Généralement, ils sont en bonne santé, mais il faut quand même rechercher des signes de dysplasie (hanche ou coude), d’atrophie rétinienne1 et de cancer. Les ballonnements sont un problème encore plus grave2. C’est très courant chez les races de chiens géants et peut avoir des conséquences catastrophiques pour votre animal s’il n’est pas traité. Attention aux signes : le Berner bave et a-t-il beaucoup de haut-le-cœur ?
Alors vous devez l'emmener chez un vétérinaire au plus vite ! Vous pouvez éviter les ballonnements ennourrir le chien en petites portions tout au long de la journée. La nourriture pour chiots de grande race est également recommandée. Ces chiens préfèrent d’ailleurs le froid et sont très sensibles à la surchauffe. Quant au pelage, pour le conserver en bon état, toilettez-le au moins une fois toutes les 2 semaines et brossez-le quotidiennement. Oui, les Bernois sont de gros excréteurs ! Les ongles, quant à eux, nécessitent des soins particuliers : coupez-les régulièrement pour aider le chien à bouger plus facilement.
Des contrôles vétérinaires fréquents, des vaccinations (deux fois par an) et un bain (toutes les deux semaines environ) devraient également être un fait partie de la routine. Mais qu’en est-il de la nutrition, me demanderez-vous ? Ces chiens sont sujets à l'obésité. Pour les garder en bonne santé, nourrissez-les toutes les 12 heures et trouvez le bon équilibre entre donner des friandises pour un bon comportement et suivre un régime hypocalorique. Tendre, aimable et facile à côtoyer, Berner est un grand fan de passer du temps avec sa famille dans un foyer actif. Si vous êtes propriétaire d'un chien pour la première fois et que vous recherchez un chien fidèle et dressable avec qui jouer, le Berner sera exactement ce que le médecin vous a prescrit. C’est aussi un excellent chien de garde qui effraiera les intrus tout en accueillant vos amis à cœur ouvert. Les personnes ayant de jeunes enfants apprécieront également le cœur aimant et attentionné de ce chien et sa patience envers les enfants.
Aperçu des Grandes Pyrénées
Tout comme le BernoisBouvier, le Bouvier des Pyrénées est un gardien. Créés en 1923, ils ont été élevés pour servir de protecteurs du bétail. Les Français appellent ce chien un « Patou ». Alors, pourquoi s’appellent-ils ainsi, exactement ? Le nom est dérivé des montagnes des Pyrénées qui « se situent » entre la France et l’Espagne – c’est là que ces chiens majestueux ont été élevés pour la première fois. Plus gros que la plupart des chiens, le Pyr possède un pelage épais qui le protège des intempéries.
De plus, il est incroyablement puissant et peut facilement effrayer les prédateurs assoiffés de sang comme les loups. Initialement, les Français élevaient des Pyrs pour survivre dans les montagnes enneigées et assurer la sécurité de leurs moutons. C’est pourquoi ils sont si protecteurs et n’ont pas peur d’affronter des cambrioleurs deux fois plus gros. En moyenne, la taille du chien de montagne des Pyrénées est impressionnante, pesant 100 livres et mesurant jusqu'à 32 pouces de hauteur.

Les Pyrs sont vigilants, courageux et justes.aussi affectueux que les bouviers bernois. Cependant, vous ne devriez pas les laisser seuls avec des enfants (à moins qu’ils ne soient correctement formés), car leur niveau de tolérance est au mieux moyen. Les relations avec les autres chiens ne seront pas non plus toujours faciles à établir. Encore une fois, pour vous assurer que tout se passe bien, vous devrez agir en tant que superviseur. Les Grandes Pyrénées sont cependant beaucoup plus protectrices et font un meilleur travail de garde/chien de garde.

Dans tous les cas, n’oubliez pas que cette race est moins active que la plupart des chiens. Son travail n°1 est de protéger. Sa grande taille et son attitude agressive suffisent à garder le troupeau. Pour qu'il soit heureux, vous n'aurez qu'à faire de l'exercice avec les Pyrénées 30 à 60 minutes par jour, voire moins.
Santé et amp; Soins
Comme la plupart des chiens, les Pyrs souffrent souvent de dysplasie de la hanche et du coude, ainsi que de luxation des rotules3. Les problèmes de santé courants incluent également la dégénérescence neuronale et les troubles oculaires. De plus, il faut toujours faire attention aux signes de dilatation-volvulus (ballonnements) gastriques qui tordent et gonflent le ventre du pauvre. Prenez l'habitude de couper les repas de votre Pyr en petits morceaux et de ne jamais laisser le chien consommer de la nourriture en grandes portions.
Les Pyrs sont les fiers propriétaires de doubles poils épais et résistants à la saleté. C’est pourquoi leurs besoins croissants ne sont pas aussi élevés qu’on pourrait l’imaginer. Ils muent au printemps et un brossage minutieux une fois par semaine environ les maintiendra en forme. Utilisez une brosse ou une brosse à épingles pour cela. Pour éliminer l’inconfort et aider le chien à rester debout, n’oubliez pas de couper les griffes. Enfin, brossez les dents de votre animal avec un dentifrice réservé aux chiens. Le Grand Il ne faut pas gâcher les Pyrénées ! Cette bête forte, agile et très protectrice est un parfait chien de garde. Il a un aboiement bruyant et un corps musclé et éloignera facilement les créatures et les cambrioleurs. Si vous avez une grande ferme à protéger des intrus, le Pyr fera le travail sans transpirer.
C'est aussi un chien affectueux qui crée des liens avec ses propriétaires. Cependant, vous devrez consacrer de longues heures à l'entraînement.
Quelle race vous convient le mieux ?
S'il s'agit de votre premier chien, vous' Je serai probablement mieux avec le bouvier bernois. Il est plus facile de s’entraîner et de suivre volontairement les commandes.
