1. Les cockers sont peut-être venus en Amérique à bord du Mayflower
Les archives montrent que deux chiens sont arrivés en Amérique à bord du Mayflower en 1620. L'un était un Mastiff, mais l'autre était un type d'épagneul. Il aurait pu s'agir d'un Cocker, d'un Springer anglais ou d'un Field Spaniel puisque ces chiens n'étaient pas encore des races distinctes.
2. Les cockers sont la plus petite race sportive
Le Cocker Spaniel est le plus petit chien du groupe sportif AKC. Lorsque les épagneuls ont été séparés pour la première fois en races distinctes, les cockers et les épagneuls des champs étaient différenciés selon leur poids. Les Cocker Spaniels ne dépassent pas 28 livres.
