Le Mastiff anglais est en fait un animal ancien, car il descend d'une race qui existait il y a environ 3 000 ans. La race originale était utilisée comme chien de guerre, mais de nos jours, le Mastiff anglais est plus connu pour sa nature douce (et sa bave !) qu'autre chose. Les Mastiffs anglais sont des animaux de compagnie absolument incroyables, mais ils ont besoin de beaucoup d'espace en raison de leur taille.

Oui, absolument ! Les Mastiffs anglais sont de fabuleux animaux de compagnie, car ils sont gentils et patients avec les enfants. Il faut cependant apprendre à tous les enfants de la maison à ne pas jouer trop brutalement avec ces chiens et à respecter leurs limites. Cependant, même si les tout-petits deviennent un peu durs, cette race ne devrait pas s’en prendre à eux. Mais gardez toujours un œil sur les petits enfants qui jouent avec le Mastiff anglais ; En raison de leur taille, il peut être facile pour un Dogue anglais de renverser un enfant par accident si les choses deviennent un peu incontrôlables.

Vous souhaiterez que l'exercice ait un faible impact pour éviter d'endommager ses articulations. De courtes promenades et des jeux dans le jardin seront donc parfaits.
Vous devrez être particulièrement prudent lorsque vous faites de l'exercice à votre chien lorsqu'il ' tu es un chiot. Trop d’exercice pour les jeunes Mastiffs anglais peut surcharger leurs articulations, entraînant des dommages. Entraîner cette race ne devrait pas être trop difficile car ils aiment plaire et sont relativement rapides à comprendre les choses. Cependant, ils peuvent aussi s'ennuyer facilement à force de répétition, choisissant de s'allonger pour faire une sieste au lieu de continuer leur entraînement.
Sachez également que ces chiens peuvent être très sensibles, donc élever la voix vers eux pourrait blesser leur sentiments. Utilisez plutôt le renforcement positif, commedes éloges et des friandises, pour les récompenser du travail bien fait. Et assurez-vous de maintenir un contact visuel avec votre chien pendant le dressage ; ces chiots sont excellents pour lire le langage corporel et les expressions, vous pouvez donc leur transmettre beaucoup de choses de cette façon.
Toilettage ✂️
Bonne nouvelle ! Malgré sa grande taille, garder un Mastiff anglais bien soigné n’est pas trop difficile. Bien que le pelage de la race soit dense, ses poils sont courts et ils ne muent abondamment que quelques fois par an. Brosser leur fourrure tous les quelques jours devrait leur donner un aspect fabuleux. Vous voudrez peut-être de temps en temps passer un peigne sur son pelage pour vous débarrasser de plus de poils morts que ne le ferait la brosse.
Quand il s'agit de se baigner, la bonne nouvelle est que, à moins que votre chiot ne se soit roulé dans une flaque de boue , vous devriez pouvoir vous en sortir simplement en les essuyant avec un gant de toilette humide pour enlever la saleté.
