Aperçu de la race
Le Bluetick Coonhound est originaire du sud-est des États-Unis au début des années 1900. Ils ont été développés en croisant des Foxhounds américains et anglais avec des races comme le Grand Bleu de Gascogne. Ils ont été élevés pour être un chien de chasse très endurant et odorant pour chasser les ratons laveurs et les proies intimidantes comme les couguars et les ours.
Cette grande race est à la fois mince et bien musclée et a un pelage blanc avec des coutil noirs et du noir. des correctifs. Leurs longues oreilles tombantes sont typiques des chiens de chasse et sont généralement noires, et leur queue est portée haute (également typique des chiens de chasse).

Les Blueticks s'entendent assez bien avec les autres chiens. Comme la plupart des chiens, ils travaillent en meute, la compagnie d’autres chiens peut donc être la bienvenue. Cependant, étant donné que les Blueticks ont un nombre extrêmement élevé de proies, les petits animaux pourraient ne pas être en sécurité. Si le chien est élevé aux côtés de ces animaux et bien socialisé, il ne devrait y avoir aucun problème. Étant un chien de chasse, le Bluetick est connu pour ses aboiements bruyants, qu'il aime montrer. Une partie de leur dressage peut inclure la réduction de leurs aboiements, en particulier si vous avez des voisins qui n'apprécient pas les chants de chiens.
Mais cette race est intelligente et aime ses humains, donc son dressage peut être assez simple. Cela dit, les chiens sont également connus pour leur entêtement, et le Bluetick ne fait pas exception.
